Cancun

We took a big Brawner Family Trip to Cancun. Here are our Highlights.
-The long flight there and back (13 travel day on way home with a 5 1/2 hour layover in the Atlanta Airport! My kids thought it was great because we ate, played our DS, and watched movies. I'm not sure how I feel about it but we made it with no issues so I was so thankful.
-The Beach was great. Jackson played in the waves constantly. Mollie Jane built sand castles and explored for shells. Smith played in the blow up baby pool and sat on the beach like a fat boy (it was so funny).
-Great rooms with a view. We had two rooms that adjoined and the kids loved having their own room. Smith was all about the balcony. Any time we were in the room he loved the balcony.
-There were great breakfast buffets and of course I always grabbed some great extra snacks from the buffet to make us through the day cauz I am the snack queen. Nothing like starting your vacation every morning with a big omelet and a chocolate croissant.
-Smith loved cruising around the pool and dancing to the music which was coming out of the speakers which were rocks. It was so funny.
-Running every day along the beach and in the warm weather was my therapy.
-Kids got ice cream every night in the Lobby of the hotel.
-We had a great photographer from the hotel do a big family photo shoot and to photograph 15 people is quite a feat. We actually had a great time doing it and got some wonderful shots.
-Jackson did homework and his writing journal and M&M time every day during "body rest time" while Mollie Jane and Smith slept, Mommy ran and Daddy did his grad school homework.
-We went to a local mall shopped around, ate a great Mexican meal, had a serenade from a Mariachi band, and took the craziest taxi van home that the kids named the "Party Van."
-The weather was great. One night a hurricane Paula hit but it was a category one hurricane. We just stayed at the hotel and had a big pizza party and the next day the kids still went out to the beach, played in the waves and looked for sea shells and sure enough the sun came out again.
-Jackson and Big's highlight for the trip were the sea turtles that were hatching at the hotel. The turtles hatch and then get released into the ocean by the staff after a period of time. It was a great educational experience as the kids learned all about the turtles. They had a big photo session one night where you could get your pictures with the turtles or ask questions about them. Then everyone lined up on the beach and the kids got to go pick up a baby turtle, name it and release it into the ocean. Jackson named his turtle George and Mollie Jane named her turtle Fancy Nancy. It was amazing. We learned the turtles return to the same spot in twenty years. My kids thought this was so cool and led into a great discussion about how amazing and keen our God is to create the turtles to do this.
-It was a great trip. Good family bonding and great time with cousins and Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents who we sadly never see due to the business of life. Fun to take time out and just hang with everybody. Jackson and Jameson both would like to go back next October!
