PawPaw's Funeral

It has been a really rough couple of months for Jason's family as his grandfather was diagnosed this year with lung cancer. He died the first week of June and we had his funeral June 10. Jason kind of had to process everything in the midst of our crazy summer schedule out at camp. Our awesome sitter Sarah drove up and back with us to and was a godsend to me on that trip. We drove down to Little Rock Arkansas and Conway for the funeral and memorial service. It is so sad but his funerals was such a mix for us. We got to be with family and see so many people we rarely get to see. We also tried to grieve and celebrate life at the same time. Reflecting back it was really a wonderful day spent with family and friends. We just kind of spent the day all together eating, sitting and riding in the car back and forth remembering Pawpaw and being together. Pawpaw was in the Navy during World War II. He was on a ship in the Pacific. At his funeral there was a full military burial and his grandfather's flag was presented to Jason. Jason and his brother and sister got up at the service and shared fun memories of Pawpaw. Suzette had some friends from Branson drive up for the service. Jackson remembers Pawpaw coming to our house several times for the holidays. Jason and Jackson also got to spend a weekend this spring before all the Pawpaw got so weak. They went up to Conway and then down to the races in Hot springs. Jackson still talks about that and I am grateful he has those fun memories to remember his great grandpa by.
